Media personality and comedienne Ssenga Justine Nantume has clarified the factors that led to her fallout with events promoter Abitex Promotions over the weekend.
Abitex was the events organizer behind the recently concluded Comedy Festival that happened over the weekend at the UMA show grounds in Lugogo. Addressing challenges faced, he revealed that he had invested over 220 million but only managed to get back not more than 150 million.
Amidst his rants, he mentioned his dissatisfaction with comedians who had come to perform, in particular Ssenga Justine Nantume, who, he said, was very impatient and ill-mannered while demanding her balance.
Defending herself, Nantume said they had an agreement that she would be paid UGX 2 million for her performance, with 1 million being covered upfront and the balance after she had left the stage.
Nantume claimed that after her performance, she stayed backstage up to 9:30 PM waiting for her payment, but to her surprise, everyone else was getting their money except her.
“When it was my turn to get paid, you boys said they would contact you. They took me into the parking lot where there were policemen all over. They made me stand for over thirty minutes saying they were calling you. On phone you suggested that I get paid 500K and the balance would be given to me on Monday. I refused because that was not the agreement initially,” she said.

Ssenga Justine revealed that she rejected the proposal due to her experience with Abitex concerning payments, as during his Namboole comedy show, he refused to pay her the money she had worked for until today.
“I kept asking for the money until I gave up and this time, I thought you would do the same thing. Told you that I would not leave without my money and they finally gave it to me. I do not know why you said all that. What you said was terrible. I cannot abuse you even when you disrespected me on air,” she said.
