Gideon Hafashimaana, a boda boda rider from Nakawa division in Kampala now owns a brand-new motorbike, after emerging as the second grand prize winner in the Shell Advance “Wangula nga Kapo” promotion by Vivo Energy Uganda.
Over 1,300 others have won amazing prizes including fuel, reflector jackets & t-shirts after the second of 12 weekly draws scheduled for course of this campaign.
Gideon, could not hold back his excitement as he received his prize from Alex Tusingwire, the Vivo Energy Uganda Lubricants Brand Manager. According to him, he never dreamt of winning the motorbike as he had the perception that these promotions were not entirely authentic.
“When I got the call and was told I had won a motor bike, I could not believe it. I thought it was just a hoax. I however followed the directives and here I am today, a proud owner of a brand-new motor bike, thanks to Vivo Energy Uganda.” Gideon said.
Last week, John Walakira, a boda boda rider from Kyengera suburb on Masaka road was head over heels when he received the first brand new motor bike from Vivo Energy Uganda.
Walakira, who is also the chairman of the ‘Kyengera Akwate Mpola’ boda stage is an ardent user of Shell Advance AX5 which he confesses has maintained his motorcycle in perfect condition over the years.
“The last time I went for an oil change at Shell Kyengera, I was given a coupon which I filled and dropped in the promotion box. Two days later, I received a phone call informing me that he had emerged as the 1st winner of the “Wangula nga Kapo” promotion. I was very excited and couldn’t believe I was a winner until the brand-new motor bike was handed over to me” Walakira narrated.
Walakira who was accompanied by his wife and friend said the new motor cycle is going to add to his family’s income. “I am going to look for someone to ride my old motorcycle as I start to ride this new one” he added.
He urged his fellow boda riders to be cautious about safety on the road during the festive season. He also advised his fellow boda boda riders to try Shell Advance motorcycle oils to better protect their motorbike engines.
Tusingwire encouraged other riders to participate in the “Wangula Nga Kapo” promotion as there are 13 brand new motorbikes and lots more prizes to be won in the coming ten weeks.
To participate, riders simply have to service their bikes with Shell Advance motorcycle oil at any participating outlet, fill out their details in a service entry coupon and drop them off in the designated promotion drop boxes. Each participating rider will receive an SMS confirming entry into the weekly draws.
“Wangula nga Kapo” promotion was launched in November 2020 with the aim of recognizing, appreciating and rewarding boda boda riders for the role they play in many peoples’ lives across the country.
