Singer Shakira Shakiraa has offered her condolences to the Tooro Kingdom after the passing of Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukiidi IV, saying that he was her very close friend.
His Royal Majesty was pronounced dead at the age of 34. He had traveled to the United States for treatment after a complicated illness that is yet to be confirmed.
Shakira, while speaking to journalists during the royal vigil, revealed that she was shocked when she heard the news of the King’s passing.
Shakira, who referred to the late King as her close friend, revealed that they met at a gym at Speke. Throughout the course of their relationship, she revealed that he always picked her up and dropped her off, and in that way, she also became friends with the queen mother.
She described him as a ‘rare king’ and a down-to-earth person who didn’t take himself as royalty.

“He looked after himself and always worked out all the time. Every time I called him a king, he would shut me up. He was a rare king. One of the most outstanding moments with their friendships was we stopped talking because we were angry at each other. I was the one in the wrong and we stopped talking for like a month. One day, he suddenly came to me and asked me why I was mad yet I was the one that pissed him off. He told me to apologize and we moved on. He was my gym buddy,” she said.
