Socialite Shakib Cham Lutaaya has denied allegations pinning him to crime and violence, citing that he was a responsible family man.

Shakib Cham, in an interview, cleared the air, dismissing claims that he was a street gangster who always participated in street fights and committed crimes. As a businessman, he revealed that he had a lot to lose and couldn’t risk his reputation being entangled in crime.

“Ugandans know Shakib is a businessman, and I have a lot to lose. I cannot risk myself for something like a phone. I have a big image to protect, and I cannot be in crime. I’m not a thief, nor am I violent like they paint me to be. I’m a simple, calm person and I mind my business plus my life,” he said.

Recently, Shakib was a center of controversy after his group allegedly stormed Boss Mutoto’s bar in Munyonyo, where they were reported to have assaulted attendees, vandalized property, and run away with items like phones and money.

A case was filed at Kabalagala Police, kickstarting investigations, and Shakib was summoned to the station to record statements.

I don’t want to go into that, but it wasn’t like that because I would have been in prison by now, because that is where thieves belong. But I’m a free man like you can see. All I can say is that I’m not a criminal, violent, or a lawbreaker.

Shakib denied allegations that he tried to evade the law during the incident by fleeing to South Africa out of fear of arrest. He explained that he frequently visits South Africa because he has a home there and goes every week.

The socialite also refrained from discussing how they resolved their beef with Boss Mutoto. He revealed that he had never had a disagreement with him and that he had always been a brother to him.
