Singer Ronious UG has spoken out following the clash he had with his father over his hairstyle.
In a clip that went viral on social media, Ronious was seen being quizzed by his father on why he had dreadlocks on his head. The angry dad listed examples of artists like Mesach Ssemakula who he said didn’t grow dreadlocks but were still doing well in their music careers.
Not long after, the dad stood up in anger and slapped him before kicking him out of the house.
During an interview with BBS TV, Ronious refrained from discussing the events that unfolded at his home out of respect for his family. He revealed that he had concealed the incident, but unfortunately, the video was leaked by his younger siblings who were also present at that moment.
“Whatever happened, I do not want to go deep into it because it was a family matter. But we are well and I’m choosing to keep whatever happened within our family. My younger siblings made a mistake to leak what happened to social media but I will do everything my father asked me to do. Home is home and he will always be my father. Whatever I do, I will always return home,’ he said.
Ronious further noted that his father is always on the move and rarely at home. Their meeting was a coincidence when he visited home over the weekend and met him there. Because he had earlier gotten information that his son had dreadlocks, he wanted the perfect moment to confront him, and it happened that day.
Despite social media condemning his father’s actions, Ronious insisted that he would follow his instructions and have his hair shaved off.

“I do not want to disrespect my father and I will cut it off. I want to go back to the image he wants me to be in because I do not have any other family. My mother spoke to him and he still refused to let me have the hair. If I don’t do what he wants, that means even my mother will be in trouble. Cutting off the dreads is easy to have peace at home,” he said.
