Singer Rema Namakula has opened up about the challenges she has faced being a celebrity, saying she can not freely go to the places she wants without attracting attention.
According to Rema Namakula, she started her music career and got her big breakthrough at a young age. She emerged as one of the industry’s leading female stars, known for her exceptional talent and dedication to her career.
This, however, came at a cost, as it sometimes came with challenges, including the unnecessary attention. Before the celebrity status, Rema claimed that she freely moved around window shopping and doing anything she loved.
“This started when I was still young. It is challenging because that is the time I want to move around, window shop, buy maize on the road, and do anything because that was the age; I was still growing up,” she said.
The story is different now with the status she has attained. Rema revealed that living a normal life as she used to do, has become challenging. She made it known that many times she has wished to walk freely and do her own shopping, but because of who she is, she is charged highly.

“I started realizing that some things were no longer as easy as I had wanted them to be. It is challenging and it takes time to get used to it. When you are a celebrity, people will always sell things to you at a higher price because they expect you to have money. Something that I miss up to now, because I’m a very picky person that loves getting her things after physically seeing them. I miss going to these places and buying my own stuff from different big shops. When we travel we do that because everyone minds their own business but here, it gets hard. You wish you could sneak downtown and pick your own things,”she said.
