Western Uganda-based singer Ray G has given his stand on music battles, emphasizing that they do not align with his goals as a musician.
While many artists are using music battles as a means of making money and gaining more publicity, Ray G has distanced himself from them, explaining that he prefers investing all his energy into creating music and connecting with his fans on stage.
Ray G further revealed that he takes music as more of a service rather than a competition, and for the time he is on stage performing for his fans, he focuses on building a genuine connection with his fans, leaving him with no room to outcompete another artist.
This, he believes, would take away the experience and fulfillment he wants to give his audience.

“It is not all about money. It is about what I do. I’m giving the service. I use my shows to connect with my fans. How do I then put my energy into outcompeting the other person? This means I’m not giving what I should be giving so I cannot compete,” he said.
Ray G further noted that despite having no problem with artists who choose to participate in music battles, he simply does not believe in them.
