Western Uganda-based celebrated singer Ray G has explained his simple fashion choice during his concerts, citing that he focuses on comfort.
It is a norm for most Ugandan artists to wear extravagant attire, which they keep changing throughout the entire night to stand out on their big day.
Ray G, however, chooses to stay simple, and during his last concert at Lugogo Cricket Oval, he put on only one suit the whole night for all his performances.
Addressing his decision, Ray G, during his most recent interview, admitted that despite music and fashion going hand in hand, he chose to focus on his performance rather than his appearance.
“It was not a fashion show. When I organize a show, I prepare music more than anything. But in a music video we can showcase and put on the way we want. A show is a job and I want to give my people a service. I focus more on doing my job very well,” he said.
Even when selecting what he should wear, Ray G revealed that he preferred dressing in clothes that he is comfortable in, unlike many of his peers who frequently make fashion statements on stage.

“I choose simplicity. When I’m doing my job, I prefer putting on what makes me comfortable so I do not lose focus on what I’m doing. If it is a fashion show, I will do that. You perform at your concert in a funny attire; something that can even make you faint. I’m looking for comfort so that I do the job that has brought me. While performing, fashion is secondary. What is comfortable for me to perform in is what I will juggle,” he said.
