President Yoweri Museveni is expected this evening, to address the nation on the way forward, after 34 days of national shut down over the Covid19 global pandemic.
“I will address the country tonight at 8pm, guiding on the way forward as the 21-day lockdown extension comes to a close tomorrow,” Museveni announced this morning
“I urge you all to continue observing the guidelines from our health experts as the battle against the Covid-19 pandemic continues.”
The President is expected to tell the nation whether or not he will be following numerous other countries around the world to slowly ease the lock down and restart the economy.
However, there have been reports that the president might extend the lockdown for a few more days.
Acccording to some sources, last week Cabinet sitting at State House Entebbe advised the president to extend the lockdown for another fortnight.
“The President was informed that the health professionals conducting the rapid assessment tests across the country needed more time to fully appreciate the situation on ground in terms of COVID-19 transmissions before the economy is fully reopened,” the source added.
