The Political Commissar of the Uganda Police AIGP Asan Kasingye has called upon Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) to consider revising the categories of vehicles which have to pay toll fees while using Kampala Entebbe Express High way.
The Entebbe Express Highway, which is the first of its kind in the country started tolling vehicles on Saturday 8th January 2022.
It only allows exemption to the Presidential motorcade, ambulances and Fire Brigade vehicles.
Kasingye however, says the Police has allocated patrol vehicles to monitor security on the road, and that these need to be expected from the toll.
“I applaud (UNRA) for Toll fees. There is a designated police patrol vehicle to check on Criminality on that road and prevent crimes. It takes average of 10 trips from Busega-Mpala and back. This makes it 20 Toll passes at 5k, totalling to 100k per day3million per month. What do we do?” Posted Kasingye
The concern attracted mixed reactions among Ugandans with many supporting the exemption.
UNRA had not yet responded to our request for comments on the matter.
