In a gesture of community support and celebration, leaders of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Diaspora chapters have donated essential maternity hampers to new mothers at Entebbe Regional Referral Hospital.
The delegation was led by the PLU Coordinator for Diaspora Affairs, Mr. Steven Rutasharara, and the Chairperson of the PLU USA Chapter, Mr. Ronnie Kananura. The initiative is part of a week-long series of activities organized by the diaspora community to commemorate the 52nd birthday of PLU Chairman, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
Strengthening Healthcare Partnerships
The team was received by the hospital’s top management, led by Hospital Director Dr. Nsubuga John Bosco. Following the donation, the delegation held a strategic meeting with hospital officials to discuss long-term cooperation.

Key areas of discussion included:
-
Outreach Support: Collaborative efforts for hospital programmes in Greater Wakiso and Luwero districts.
-
Resource Sharing: How PLU Diaspora chapters can facilitate equipment or skill-sharing initiatives.
-
Community Wellness: Aligning PLU’s civic duties with public health goals.
The meeting was attended by senior hospital staff, including Senior Hospital Administrator Richard Tumwesigye, Principal Nursing Officer Mutonyi Roselyn Walimbwa, and Hospital Administrator Christopher Ogwal Oling.
Commemorative Tree Planting
To mark the occasion of Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s 52nd birthday, the delegation also engaged in a tree-planting exercise on the hospital grounds. The trees serve as a lasting symbol of growth, environmental stewardship, and the PLU’s commitment to the future of Uganda.
“This initiative is our way of giving back to the community while honoring the leadership of our Chairman. We believe in a Uganda where the diaspora plays an active role in local development,” noted Mr. Rutasharara.
The Role of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU)
The PLU continues to expand its reach both locally and internationally. Events like the Entebbe Hospital outreach highlight the organization’s shift toward civic engagement and social welfare, bridging the gap between Ugandan citizens abroad and essential service providers at home.
