At least one person has died and another is undergoing treatment after a building under construction collapsed on Sunday night in Buziga, a wealthy neighborhood in Kampala’s Makindye Division.
The exact nature of the structure—whether residential or commercial—remains unclear, and details surrounding the incident are still limited.
The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has confirmed the collapse and stated that rescue operations are ongoing.
In a brief update posted Monday, KCCA reported the incident took place in Katuuso Zone, Buziga Parish.
“We have received reports of a building collapse in Katuuso Zone, Buziga Parish, Makindye Division on the night of June 15, 2025,” the authority shared via X (formerly Twitter).
KCCA added that one individual was pulled from the debris and is receiving medical care. The Uganda Police Force is assisting KCCA with response efforts at the site.
Unverified photos circulating online appear to show the body of one victim among the rubble.
Authorities have yet to provide an official explanation for the collapse or confirm if others may still be trapped.
KCCA has committed to providing ongoing updates as more information emerges.
