Renowned events promoter Nobat Events, real name Norbert Twizire, is currently facing legal proceedings over allegations of theft of SACCO money.
The court heard that Nobat, together with Twaha and other members still on the run, between August and September 2026 stole 1 billion Shillings given by the government to support the promoters. They are also accused of squandering UGX 31,904,000 in member savings and shares between the months of February and September.
Nobat and Twaha both denied the allegations read to them, entering a not guilty verdict.
One of the SACCO members, through a voice recording, alleged that Nobat used his position as a chairman for the Kampala and Beyond United Music Promoters SACCO to obtain money that was initially given to the members as a grant.
At first, Nobat, alongside the SACCO signatories, allegedly signed cheques worth millions of money, which they distributed amongst themselves. The balance was then reportedly transferred to his personal account, where he has been withdrawing and sharing with his other media friends outside the union.
The members, dissatisfied with the way their chairman was handling the funds, decided to come together and write a petition through all the concerned offices, from the Local Government, the Prime Minister, the CDF, among others, demanding for him to be summoned.

Nobat was allegedly summoned by Hon. Balaam to give an account of the funds, but it was not adding up, and he was taken to Katwe Police Station, where he has been detained since 30th September, before he was arraigned before court yesterday.
Nobat, while speaking to the journalists behind the docks, revealed that it was all a ploy from his competition out of jealousy because he was appointed as the PLU National Coordinator.
