In a shocking turn of events, Mutima Villaz, a popular resort in Jinja, is facing a lawsuit after two clients were robbed during their stay.
The victims reported the theft of several valuable items, including an iPhone 13 Pro Max, an iPhone XR, a Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus, and other personal luggage.
Details of the Incident
The robbery allegedly occurred sometime back on April 15th 2024 when the clients were sleeping their rooms.
According to Vince Musisi (one of the victims) , it occurred when he returned to the Mutima Villaz to rest acter a tiresome day.
It was my birthday week, and I chose the place with good parking and security , WiFi and silence. I remember coming back to Mutima Villaz at 11:30 which had 2 security guards… Liverpool was playing so I was on a couch enjoying paka TV lweyandaba . I dosed off until when I heard sounds from another room… Aunt Siime was sleeping and saw a ki guy and called my name the he ran… Jukira nze nali ssigenze Jinja kunywa Mata on my birthday . We woke up and I said “it was just a bad dream, let’s pray.. we prayed naye nalemerako , “where’s your tour bag and phone ? Nange I asked gwe where’s your iPhones? Byonna nga biyiseemu. We made alarms naye nga ba Askari bonna beebase so the caretaker Meddie woke up and we called police and The Manager but police and the security company got there in 5minutes and asked , “what did they take?” We said iPhone 13promax iPhone XR and my s21plus Samsung plus my luggage . They laughed and said, “you guys can’t afford those items. Meanwhile we have a car in the parking which they didn’t break into (Thank Jesus) . Police played around with us for 5 days at CPS Jinja , Mutima Villaz ignored our calls (I drove to a friend Amanya Owe Jinja and some guy Eric and got a t-shirt because everything was taken). We called Johnson (my bodaMaster) to send ndagamuntu atleast we replace a line while we are at it…. Most of you Called my lil sis Joy looking for me (thanks Bugingo Hannington and my Mizigo fam. ) Katusiime got the line and we communicated but I was furious because Jinja police just wrote statements and never investigated the matter. We reached out to my dear friend Precious Ashaba who advised us to contact a lawyer.. it didn’t feel right because the owner was a friend naye yanneeragirako and even had me removed from a WhatsApp quiz group where there’s lots of great friends. I felt alone and I went on to seek help from the law . (Not my kind of game but I had to kubanga ebya street birala and obulamu Yesu yabuwamba) I spoke about it and found out , other hotels were robbed and they kept silent tebaagala kufiirwa ba client … If you know me well, Jinja is my first city and I cherish it… I first learnt lusoga before English . Awo bi depression ne replacing my gear and gadgets nebirumba.
Friends ran away, and one of them I used work with Him at Laparoni days naye nafuuka assistant Jesus Ku group without hearing me out. I wish the owner of the Villa called me back and said “mwana im sorry, what can I do?” Nandi kitadde naye ezzalawo nokunziza emabega is the reason I went to a lawyer. I’m sharing this to remind all of us, Ego eri expensive kubanga Kati nemeddeko nkooye okunzanyirako ngate nakusasudde okusula ewuwo where I have been bringing great clients like Chris AL and more. Gano mazima gange era munsonyiwe obbyoogera naye I’ve been losing sleep remembering that incident in Jinja my town. Part 2 ejja. Ababbi banji e Jinja webereremu era funa Lawyer . Police tejja kuyamba.
Legal Actions Taken
The victims decided to take legal action against Mutima Villaz, alleging negligence and inadequate security measures.
In a letter that we landed on on social media, Mutima Villaz wished to apologize for the incident almost 2 months after it happened.
The lawsuit by the victims seeks compensation for the stolen items and damages for the emotional distress caused by the incident.
This legal move highlights the increasing concern over the safety standards maintained by hospitality establishments in Jinja since a number of cases seem to have been reported about the same.
