President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has promised residents of the Lango sub-region that proceeds from Uganda’s upcoming oil production will be used to improve infrastructure — especially road construction.
During his visit to Lira City, the President said that oil revenue will be directed toward key projects that enhance connectivity and stimulate economic growth across northern Uganda.
“The oil money will not be eaten; it will build roads and support industrialization,” Museveni said, assuring locals that his government is committed to equitable development.
He explained that the government has established strong frameworks to manage oil revenues transparently, ensuring the funds benefit Ugandans through public investment in education, energy, and transport.
Museveni also urged community leaders to prepare their people to take advantage of new opportunities that will arise once oil production starts in 2025.
He noted that improved infrastructure would help farmers, traders, and industries in the region access markets and grow the local economy.
The President’s visit forms part of his broader nationwide engagements aimed at rallying public support for Uganda’s oil agenda and promoting inclusive national development.
