MTN Uganda staff handover mattresses to Luwero Regional Refferal Hospital.

Luweero, Uganda | ENTEBBENEWS.NET | MTN Uganda launched the second season of its Digida Caller Tunez promotion in Luweero on Friday, combining customer rewards with new network sites and community support as part of its Y’ello Storm campaign.

Customers who activate their preferred MTN Caller Tunez by dialing *170*12# will stand a chance to win one of 20 boda bodas or share Shs 42 million in cash prizes.

The launch marked the culmination of a three-day Y’ello Storm campaign in Luweero District, during which MTN Uganda held health camps, engaged customers and businesses and donated beds and mattresses to Luweero Regional Referral Hospital.

The technology company also launched new network sites in the district, including one at Lukomera, to improve coverage and connectivity for customers and businesses.

MTN Uganda CEO Sylvia Mulinge, said the campaign was intended to combine network investment with customer engagement and community support.

“The Y’ello Storm gives us an opportunity to engage directly with our customers while responding to some of the needs of the communities where we operate,” he said.

Mulinge said the new network sites would support growing demand for mobile connectivity as customers increasingly use digital services for business, communication and entertainment.

“Reliable connectivity is increasingly important to businesses and households. Our investment in new sites in Luweero is aimed at improving the experience of customers and supporting the district’s growing digital economy,” she said.

The company said Digida Season II would give customers access to more Caller Tunez while offering rewards for those who activate the service.

The Y’ello Storm also offered customers 20% discounts at participating grocery stores and bars when they paid using MTN Mobile Money.

The campaign is being conducted under MTN Uganda’s Free Your Fire brand platform and has previously been held in Arua, Masaka, Soroti, Mubende and Gulu.

MTN Uganda executive said the campaign is designed to strengthen customer engagement and increase awareness of its telecommunications, digital and financial services.

Mulinge said the company would continue investing in network infrastructure and digital services in Luweero and other parts of Uganda.

“Our investment does not end with this campaign. We will continue looking at where connectivity can be strengthened and where our products and services can create greater value for customers and communities,” she said.

The Y’ello Storm activities in Luweero ran from Wednesday to Friday, with customer engagements, health activities, community support and network investment preceding the Digida Season II launch.
