Outgoing Kampala Woman Member of Parliament Nabilah Naggayi Ssempala has reportedly fled her marital home and sought refuge at a friend’s place, in the heat of a fight with her husband, Mr Isaac Ssempala Ssebagala.

Nabilah reportedly fled the house located in Buziga, in Makindye Division and went to start living with her friend, Mrs. Nusura Tiperu in Kkonge.

The house is currently at the center of a court battle between Mrs Nabilah and her husband.

The same house however, is also being claimed by Prof Vanansius Baryamureeba, the former Makerere University Vice Chancellor, who has threatened to attach it over an unpaid loan, which he extended to the couple about 10 years ago.

Last week, Nabilah rushed to the Makindye Magistrates Court seeking orders to block her husband from coming to or residing in the said house.

However, it is understood that by the time the court order granted, she had left the house to start living with her friend.

Mr Sempala yesterday told press that he had no idea where his wife was currently living.

Mr Sempala also revealed that Nabilah had over the recent months become infrequent at the house, and that during the election campaign period, she was only there for two weeks.

When reached for a comment, Mrs Nabilah declined comment on the matter.

“I’m sorry but I am not ready to discuss this with you. This is my private life,” the MP said.

In the case she filed at the Makindye Court before Magistrate Patience Lorna Tuhaise, Nabilah asked for her husband to be ordered “to stay away from the premises or where the applicant resides” up to April 6th 2021.

The magistrate granted this order and also one preventing Mr Sempala from “committing or enlisting the help of another person, to commit an act of domestic violence.”

Among the grounds for this application, Nabilah had told court that her husband had abused her to the point when he slapped her in public, when she was campaigning during the just completed elections.

Nabilah says this public embarrassment was one of the reasons she lost the election to incumbent Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago.

She also accused her husband of assaulting her together with her house help and one Jacob Imbo, who she says was visiting them.

Mr Sempala denies all these allegations.

Court has since ordered Sempala to show up on March 19th next week respond to his wife’s claims.
