Kampala, Uganda | ENTEBBENEWS.NET | Ugandan manufacturer Movit Africa has been named Best Overall Exhibitor at the 32nd Uganda International Trade Fair, along with Best Sector Exhibitor – Cosmetics/Petrochemical Products, highlighting the growing role of local manufacturers in building competitive brands and expanding market opportunities.
Organized by the Uganda Manufacturers Association, the 2026 trade fair is being held under the theme “Formalizing Trade To Secure Uganda’s Economic Future,” placing manufacturing, formal trade and industrial development at the center of this year’s conversation.
For Movit Africa, the recognition comes nearly three decades after the company began operations in Uganda in 1997. Since then, the business has expanded its manufacturing and product portfolio and developed brands serving consumers in Uganda and other African markets.
Mary Kobusingye, Corporate Affairs Manager, said the awards demonstrate the importance of building local manufacturing businesses capable of competing not only on production capacity, but also on quality, innovation, consumer understanding and market development.
“Manufacturing does not end when a product leaves the production line. Sustainable manufacturing requires us to understand consumers, build trusted brands, develop strong distribution networks and continuously improve our products and capabilities. This recognition is therefore an important affirmation of the work our teams and partners are doing to build a competitive African manufacturing business.”

At UGITF, Movit Africa’s “World of Beauty” exhibition brings its product portfolio closer to consumers while providing opportunities for direct product experience, feedback and engagement with customers and other stakeholders.
The company’s recognition as Best Sector Exhibitor – Cosmetics/Petrochemical Products also highlights the potential of Uganda’s beauty and personal care manufacturing sector to create locally manufactured products and build brands capable of serving domestic and regional markets.
Movit Africa said platforms such as UGITF remain important because they connect manufacturers with consumers, distributors, policymakers and other actors who influence the competitiveness and growth of local industry.
“For Ugandan manufacturing to grow sustainably, manufacturers cannot work in isolation. We need strong connections between industry, consumers, trade partners, government and the institutions shaping the business environment. The trade fair provides an important platform for those connections,” Kobusingye added.
The company said the recognition strengthens its commitment to continued investment in manufacturing, product innovation, market development and regional growth.
