Celebrated singer and businessman Mesach Ssemakula has addressed the longstanding rumor of him being HIV positive.
For a long time now, there have been questions surrounding the band singer’s HIV status, with many alleging that he was infected.
Mesach, while addressing his fans and journalists at his press conference ahead of his 50th-anniversary concert, noted that the rumors were sparked by his injured leg.
He revealed that in 2006, he fell ill for a long time because of the injury to his leg, which compelled the public to think that there was more to his illness.
“My leg got sick and it almost killed me. A lot of things were said because of my sick leg. This happened in 2006 and up to now, people still say that I’m HIV positive,” he said.
Being a young man at that point and in the limelight, the rumors suggesting that he was HIV positive always bothered him. But as he grew older, he got used to them and was never concerned about what they thought about him because he knew his status.

“At this time, it doesn’t hurt me anymore. That is why I still talk about it without any problem. It used to hurt those days because I was still young; I was like 27 years old,” he said.
