Kadongo Kamu singer and politician Mathias Walukagga has explained why he changed his concert date, saying that he cannot be in conflict with female artists.
Walukagga initially announced his concert for 28th November before changing following date clash with Mary Bata’s concert, who planned to hold her concert on the same date.
Walukagga, during his interview with Spark TV, revealed that he chose to step away and push his concert to the 15th January 2027 at Kampala Sheraton Hotel, saying he didn’t want any bad blood with a fellow musician.
“As an older person who knows music and studied how to handle conflicts, I had to get the right way to handle it without any issues. With this, I decided to let her have the date and shifted mine. I’m not in any hurry; as long as I’m alive I can get another date and sing my songs. Even for my new date, if anyone comes up and claims it, I will shift it and wait for my turn,” he said.
Walukagga further emphasized that he did it out of respect for Mary Bata as a woman, saying it was not necessary to clash over dates.

“I do not want people to start comparing us. I can compete with a fellow man; if a male artist had come out to claim my date, I would challenge him but this is a woman. It wasn’t necessary to be in conflict with her over the date. It was not a do or die affair so I chose to push it and move on,” he said.
