Comedian Madrat of the Madrat & Chiko comedy duo has revealed that he has lost a number of juicy opportunities, including his political ambitions, citing that he didn’t complete his education.

Madrat, who was a guest star on the Deep Talk Show, expressed his desire to run for political office; unfortunately, he doesn’t make the cut because he doesn’t meet the required educational requirements.

“I would have loved to contest for a political position, but I do not have the required education. I could go back to school if God wills but also, just like they say, politics is a dirty game,” he noted.

Despite not revealing his level of education, Madrat noted that his education ended at Africana Whiteland College International, which is currently Seroma Christian High School.

He stressed that his mother didn’t have the money to pay school fees on time and, because of this, the school director would hold them back during the holidays to do manual work for him to cover up for the school fees they had defaulted on.

“I will not disclose the class I stopped at but Henry Tigan is my witness that I attended school. He was above me. Us who didn’t have enough money to pay school fees, we used to over plead to study. But our director was a very good man and allowed us to attend school and on boarding without paying all the fees. My mother didn’t have money and we would study for the whole term but if we failed to clear the balance, he would hold us and make us do work for him in the holidays,” he said.

Because of the heavy labour, Madrat revealed that he was forced to quit school, a decision he still regrets to this day. He made it clear that he has missed a lot of well-paying opportunities because of a lack of education and encouraged all the school-going children to stay in school if they have the chance.

“This stress was too much for me and I ended up quitting. But I encourage all children out there not to play with their education. At this age, I’m just realizing the importance of education. I have lost very many opportunities because I didn’t go to school,’ he said.
