Lilian Mbabazi has been taken to court due to her inability to pay off her overdue rent amounting to more than Ugx 16 million.

On the 21st of February 2018, Lilian entered into a rental agreement for a house located in Konge-Buziga plot 7141, Block 273.

The agreement stipulated that she was to pay Ugx 1.5M every month. However, as of the 13th of July 2023, Lilian Mbabazi had failed to pay her rent for a period of one year and four months, with her last payment being made in April 2022.

Despite numerous requests for payment, Lilian Mababzi adamantly did not settle her arrears.

After receiving a demand letter and notice of intention to sue, Lilian Mbabazi made a payment of Ugx 10M on the 28th of September 2023, promising to pay the remaining balance of Ugx 16.2M within three months, on or before the 28th of December.

Unfortunately, she has since failed to honour the agreement as she has not paid the outstanding balance to date.

As a result, the property owner took legal action against Lilian Mbabazi by filing a case at the Chief Magistrates Court of Makindye to recover the owed amount of Ugx 16.2M.

Lilian Mbabazi was given a deadline of ten days from the date of being served, which was the 6th of March 2024, to respond to the claims in court. Failure to do so would result in an arrest warrant being issued for her apprehension.
