Singer Liane Nakaweesi has opened up on why she stepped away from active music, blaming former management for mismanaging her funds.
Liane Nakaweesi was arguably one of the best and most promising young talents in the 2010s, known for her well-curved body and catchy love songs until she went mute.
It has been close to a decade since she released any new song, and while speaking in a YouTube interview, Liane revealed that she quit after her manager stole the money she had given him to promote her songs.
Being a struggling artist who was trying to make ends meet, Liane described the ordeal as a big blow that also discouraged her from investing in her music more.
“I quit because I got discouraged. Sometimes you need promotion after you put work out. At that time, I had got someone to help me with that but they disappointed me. I gave him money to move my songs but he mismanaged it. He alleged that he had used the money to pay his children’s school fees. I lost all the morale and I hated music. Money is not easy to get and all my businesses were not giving me that much money. I lost it from then because it is very bad for someone to mismanage your funds yet you have struggled hard. The money I have is very little just for me to survive,” she said.

Liane revealed that at one point, renowned events promoter BK was willing to invest in her career, but he got busy with promotion gigs that she said kept coming consistently. With this, he didn’t have time for her music, and after spending close to two years without a new project, she decided to walk away.
Liane, who last stepped on stage for a performance in December at Luseke Nyam Nyam, announced her comeback with new projects underway.
