Musician Laika Music has opened up on the reason she delayed getting her breakthrough in the music industry, citing a lack of proper management.
Speaking to Alfa Timez, Laika revealed that she had tried music as a solo artist for close to two years and realized she couldn’t handle it anymore.
Laika initially worked in administration until the lockdown, after which she began considering a music career. She frequented studios, recorded music for fun, and did not promote it.
The singer says she seriously considered music as a career in 2023, but struggled to get her big breakthrough, mainly because she was not signed under any label. She struggled with finances, especially because she had no one to invest in and sponsor her music career. She continued to pursue music and promote it in her way, leading to stagnation in her career.
When she realized she needed proper management, Laika revealed that she had visited different music labels and camps, but none could take her in. This was because they had already signed new talent and were not ready to add another. Others kept pushing her away because they did not believe in her talent and potential to become a prominent artist one day.
“I was just gambling. I always knew that I needed proper management and I tried knocking at the doors of every record label in this country but some of them did not see potential in me. It was not that easy. I can’t really tell where the problem was coming from but some of them had just finished signing some other artists. I was a bit late.
She revealed that she was accepted by some, but was turned off because of the tough contracts she was offered. She also recalled a label that she preferred not to mention, which gave her a chance, but on the condition that she sit for six months and learn how to write her lyrics.

“Some had very tough contracts that I could not handle. All that was time wasted because I was already performing on some shows and was not badly off but they told me to sit there,” she said.
