Singer Jovan Luzinda has opened up about why he cancelled his concert, citing sombre moods among most music fans.
Jovan Luzinda had earlier announced that he would be entertaining his fans in an intimate solo show on Valentine’s Day, but all of a sudden, he stopped pushing it.
During a TV interview, the singer noted that he cancelled his concert because he believed the party mood had been greatly affected by the recently concluded elections. He noted that a section of his fans had been disappointed and knew they wouldn’t turn out to support him.
“I thought it was not the right time to stage such a show because a show would not add anything to them. It was a happy moment, but I weighed it and put myself in their shoes; I saw it was unnecessary,” he said.
Since he had seen many reactions about the election results in his feed, Jovan Luzinda said it was unfair to try to stage a concert at that point. He noted that it would seem like he was invalidating their feelings and trying to extract money from them.
“People are not okay with us dragging them in concerts, especially after elections. People are not happy. It was meant to be a mini concert with my friends and those who loved me and my music,” he said.

Jovan denied allegations suggesting that he had chickened out of fear that he hadn’t prepared enough. He revealed that he chose to relate to the situation, but was not afraid of the competition from fellow artists like Geosteady, who had planned for the same day.
“Some do it with just a song, how about me, who has done nice songs. I’m not scared of anything, but most of the time I look at the situation that fans are going through. They are our bosses, and if they are sad and we go on to extract money, it is unfair,” he said.
