Ugandan music star Joshua Baraka has secured a major career milestone after being appointed Visa’s first-ever Ugandan Brand Ambassador in a landmark partnership aimed at connecting young consumers with music, entertainment, culture and digital payment experiences.
The announcement, made on Thursday, November 5, 2026, marks another significant achievement for the rising singer, whose profile continues to grow both locally and internationally. The partnership comes just weeks before the release of his highly anticipated EP, Recess 2, and his upcoming B’rakaland EA concert scheduled for November 28 at Lugogo Hockey Grounds.
As part of the partnership, Visa will take on a key role at the B’rakaland EA concert, bringing together music, live entertainment and digital payment experiences while creating exciting opportunities for fans to engage with the brand.
Baraka described his appointment as an exciting and humbling achievement, noting that it represents not only personal progress but also a proud moment for Uganda’s creative industry.
He expressed excitement about working with a globally recognised brand like Visa to create meaningful experiences for his fans, inspire young people and showcase Uganda’s growing creative talent to international audiences.

Victor Makere, Visa’s Country Manager for Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi, said Baraka embodies the creativity, ambition and global outlook of Africa’s new generation of talent.
Makere highlighted the singer’s journey from Kampala to international audiences, describing him as a suitable partner for Visa’s efforts to connect consumers with opportunities and experiences across borders.
Beyond the concert partnership, Baraka will feature in Visa-led marketing campaigns and consumer engagement initiatives targeting music lovers, particularly young people who increasingly interact with entertainment through digital platforms.
Visa’s involvement in B’rakaland EA also reflects the company’s broader strategy of connecting with consumers through cultural experiences while promoting the adoption and acceptance of digital payments in Uganda.
The global payments company continues to expand its footprint in the country through partnerships with financial institutions, mobile money operators, merchants and fintech companies.

Joshua Baraka rose to prominence in 2023 following the release of his breakout single Nana, which helped establish him as one of Uganda’s most promising musical talents.
He has since collaborated with several artists across Africa and earned international recognition, including being featured as a Spotify RADAR Africa artist.
His appointment as Visa’s first-ever Ugandan Brand Ambassador adds another major achievement to his growing career, as he prepares to release Recess 2 and headline B’rakaland EA on November 28.
The partnership further positions Baraka as an emerging representative of Uganda’s creative industry on the international stage.
