Singer John Blaq has shared how singers Jose Chameleone, Bebe Cool, and Bobi Wine stepping back from active music created opportunities for the younger generation to thrive.
The three artists, also known as the Big Three, have been widely considered as some of the pillars of the music industry. Having started music in the early 2000s, they garnered a huge fan base, and John Blaq believes that taking a break from active music helped the younger artists get attention from some of their fans too.
“Bobi Wine leaving the music industry didn’t affect me, but helped me so much. The big three taking a step back in the music industry helped younger artists to get the podium. What these men do is very different and we cannot handle it,” he said.
Defending his submission, John Blaq explained that Bebe Cool, Chameleone, and Bobi Wine had a lot of money and a big fanbase that was willing to support them anywhere at any cost.

“First of all they have money, they have fans they have grown up with. The audience matters a lot; do you know that Bobi Wine can decide to stage a show at Serena Hotel at 300K and people will fill up the place because he has grown up with these people. You find a Bank of Uganda employee supporting Gagamel. If these artists were still active in music, we wouldn’t have a place. These guys have money and very rich fans. They have a different type of favor in that if they do not walk away no one will see the rest of us,” Blaq said.
