    ICC T20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers Tournament

    9th – 17th December

    At Entebbe Cricket Oval

    The ICC T20 Women’s World Cup Qualifier’s Tournament shall bat off on the 9th December 2023 at the lake side Entebbe Cricket Oval.

    As hosts, Uganda will be joined by seven other countries; Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Botswana, Namibia, Rwanda, Nigeria and Kenya.

    The teams are pooled in two groups; A (Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Botswana and Kenya) whilst B has Uganda, Rwanda, Namibia and Nigeria.

    The top two teams from each pool will make the grade for the semi-finals; eventually having two finalists who will qualify for the Global qualifiers come Dubai 2024.

    All the teams shall be accommodated at Imperial Botanical Hotel in Entebbe throughout the duration of the tournament.

    Team Uganda composition:

    Uganda’s team has the likes of Consylate Aweko, Janet Mbabazi, Kevin Awino, Proscovia Alako, Malisa Ariokot, Lorna Anyait, Esther Iloku, Immaculate Nakisuyi, Rita Musamali, Stephanie Nampiina, Irene Alumo, Evelyn Anyipo, Patricia Malemikia and Sarah Akiteng.

    Aweko is team captain and will be deputized by Mbabazi.

    The Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) has hence off rallied for fans to join the Cricket Pearls as they gallantly represent the country.

    “We call upon the fans from every corner of the country to come down in Entebbe and support our girls. We only say ‘Jangu Ne Munno’, ‘Come with a friend’. There will be no entrance fees.” UCA Chief Executive Officer Allan Mugume stated.

    Mugume is also the chairperson of the local organizing committee, assisted by Joshua Mwanja (UCA operations manager) and Grace Mutyagaba (UCA Development officer).

    Uganda’s opening match will come on Sunday, 10th December 2023, against Rwanda (9:30 AM).

    The second game shall be played on Tuesday, 12th December 2023, versus Namibia (1:30 PM) and the final group duel will be against Nigeria on Thursday, 14th December 2023.

    The two semi-final matches will come on Saturday, 16th December 2023 prior to the third and fourth place play-off on the subsequent day.

    The final match of the tournament will also be held on Sunday, 17th December 2023 at 1:30 PM.
