I&M Bank Uganda has officially introduced its highly anticipated multi-currency prepaid cards, a move designed to eliminate the hurdles of local and international transactions for its customers.

The new card allows users to load and spend in multiple currencies, including Uganda Shillings (UGX), US Dollars (USD), and British Pounds (GBP), making it a game-changer for frequent travelers, online shoppers, and business professionals.

    Seamless International Spending

One of the primary challenges for Ugandans transacting abroad has been the high cost of currency conversion and fluctuating exchange rates. With the I&M multi-currency card, users can lock in exchange rates at the time of loading, providing a predictable and cost-effective way to manage international spending.

Key Features of the I&M Multi-Currency Card:

    • Global Acceptance: Use the card at millions of Visa-enabled ATMs, POS terminals, and online storefronts worldwide.

    • No Bank Account Required: The card is “prepaid,” meaning even non-account holders can access it for their payment needs.

    • Real-Time Tracking: Manage funds and monitor transactions via the I&M Bank digital portals.

    • Enhanced Security: Equipped with EMV chip-and-pin technology for secure transactions.

    Boosting Financial Inclusion and E-commerce

Speaking at the launch, I&M Bank officials highlighted that the card is a strategic response to the growing demand for digital payment solutions in Uganda. As e-commerce continues to rise, the card provides a secure bridge for Ugandans to shop on international platforms like Amazon, Netflix, and Alibaba without the complexities of traditional wire transfers.

    Ideal for Travelers and Students

The card is specifically tailored for:

    • Business Travelers: Avoid carrying large amounts of cash and manage travel expenses in local currencies.

    • International Students: Parents can easily load the card from Uganda to support students studying abroad.

    • Freelancers: A convenient way to manage foreign earnings and digital payments.
