    Gov’t commissions shs1.3billion health facility in Bududa

    Bududa, Uganda | ENTEBBENEWS.NET | The Bududa Resident district commissioner,  Africano Aharikundira on Friday handed over the newly constructed Bumusi Health Center III to Nalwanza Sub County.

    The government in 2021 embarked on the construction and upgrade of Bumusi Health Center III from Health Center II.

    This was in fulfillment of the government’s pledge to upgrade Health Center II’s to three in a bid to improve health service delivery to communities. The structures include a maternity ward, a staff house, and a placenta pit.

    According to the RDC, it will help the people of Nalwanza to get services from nearer. He challenged residents in the area to practice disease prevention. He urged women to fully utilize the health facility to boost antenatal services.

    Imelda Tumuhairwe the Bududa District Health Officer asked residents to use the facility well and also guard it so that it can serve them.

    She hailed those who donated land where the facility was constructed saying such people are very important in the community.

    Tumuhairwe asked them to look around for more land where other facilities would sit should there be room for expansion.

    Racheal Nabulo Martha, the vice chairperson for Bududa district asked the government to establish and equip more health facilities in the district with enough drugs and personnel.

    Mariam Nabulo, an expectant mother who spoke to our reporter, hailed the government for the development saying they have been moving long distances to seek antenatal services.

    Elina Namasopo another expectant mother said they used to have only immunization and counseling services at the facility before it was upgraded.

    Rogers Shibuta, a husband of an expectant woman, says this will help their wives to get to and from the health unit on the time given the weather and terrain in Bududa district.

    He also says the facility will come with other services like electricity and a road, which shall benefit them as a community now that it has been opened.

    Isa Bukoma the district engineer said the construction of the health facility is a sigh of relief to area residents who have been facing many challenges in accessing appropriate healthcare.

    He said much as the facility was delayed due to weather, finally, the residents have a reason to smile and celebrate upon reaching where they are. He asked them to utilize the facility and own it now that it has come closer to them.
