Oyam, Uganda | NEWS CORRESPONDENT | The Bukenya Sulaiman Foundation has successfully concluded its second official humanitarian outreach mission in Oyam District, delivering critical aid to vulnerable children, students, and elderly residents.
The extensive donation drive, which took place on October 4, 2026, focused on addressing immediate educational and basic living needs within the northern Ugandan community.
Led by foundation proprietor Sulaiman Bukenya, who also serves as the CEO of Uganda On-line Investments LTD, the mission distributed scholastic materials, covered school fees for disadvantaged children, and provided vital food supplements and essential household items to the elderly.
A Foundation Built on Personal Experience
Though the Bukenya Sulaiman Foundation achieved formal registration only recently, its charitable operations have been active for an extended period. What began as an informal, personal effort by Mr. Bukenya to support families in need has quickly evolved into a structured, wide-reaching humanitarian initiative.
According to the foundation, Bukenya’s philanthropic drive is deeply rooted in his own upbringing in Nateete, a suburb of Kampala. Experiencing firsthand the daily financial hardships faced by ordinary families—particularly the struggle to secure basic necessities—shaped his conviction that those who gain the means to help should actively support the less fortunate.
“A helping hand today can create an opportunity for tomorrow,” Bukenya stated, emphasizing that the foundation prioritizes practical forms of assistance designed to yield an immediate, positive impact on beneficiaries’ lives.
Investing in Classrooms and Community Elders
The Oyam outreach split its resources between two primary vulnerable demographics: education for children and dignity for the elderly.
Recognizing that the cumulative costs of school fees, uniforms, and books frequently force children out of school, the foundation stepped in to ease the financial burden on struggling households. The organization views education funding not merely as charity, but as a strategic investment to help youth acquire skills and secure a stable future.

Simultaneously, the foundation extended its outreach to older community members who live with limited resources or lack strong family support networks. By supplying food supplements and everyday essentials, the initiative aimed to restore comfort and reinforce the elderly’s valued standing in society.
A Broadening Vision
The foundation’s leadership noted that while Oyam District was the definitive target for this specific mission, their organizational footprint is intended to expand well beyond a single region.
Driven by the philosophical motto, “It could be you next time,” the foundation uses its public platforms to champion a broader national culture of compassion and grassroots giving. The organization maintains that even small contributions—whether a single bag of food or basic school supplies—can provide profound relief to a family experiencing severe hardship.
Following the completion of the Oyam District drive, the Bukenya Sulaiman Foundation plans to assess and identify subsequent vulnerable communities across Uganda for its upcoming humanitarian tours.
