The Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has given the go-ahead to bars and clubs to operate fully on their own terms.
Taking to his official X account, the CDF revealed that the citizens had the right to dance and drink until morning, giving bar owners the freedom to decide when to open and close the drinking joints as long as the revellers avoid chaos.
“Opening and closing hours for bars and clubs is up to the proprietors. What will not tolerate is any form of fighting and violence. Otherwise, Ugandans are entitled to enjoy themselves.
CDF Muhoozi further condemned the humiliation and embarrassment of women for indecent dressing. He revealed that they had the right to dress however they wanted, and anyone found violating this right risks immediate arrest.

“Also, women are allowed to dress anyway they want. No one will disturb a woman for wearing a mini. If you do, we shall arrest you without a doubt,” Gen. Muhoozi made it clear.

Muhoozi’s directives come shortly after the Hon. Balaam Barugahara issued a set of directives to regulate bars with an aim of increasing productivity among Ugandans. These, among others, included banning early morning consumption of alcohol and ordering drinking joints to only operate after 3 PM.
