First Son and Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has reaffirmed Uganda’s commitment to strengthening military cooperation with Canada.
During recent engagements, Gen. Kainerugaba emphasized the importance of building strategic partnerships that enhance Uganda’s defense capabilities and contribute to regional stability.
He noted that collaboration with Canada will focus on training, capacity building, and knowledge exchange to professionalize Uganda’s armed forces.
Canadian officials welcomed the initiative, highlighting opportunities to share expertise in peacekeeping, advanced defense technology, and military leadership development.
Uganda’s army, which has long been involved in regional security missions, is expected to benefit from this partnership through exposure to global best practices.
Gen. Kainerugaba stressed that Uganda’s military ties with international partners are crucial for maintaining peace, combating terrorism, and ensuring the security of citizens.
The strengthening of Uganda–Canada defense relations comes as Kampala continues to seek broader international engagement in both security and development.
