News from Nkumba University indicate that Josephine Namatovu, a former guild president aspirant at Nkumba University breathed her last on the evening of December 28th, 2019. Namatovu came fifth in an election held in April 2019 that was eventually won by Byron Luswata, a People Power pressure group candidate.
Namatovu was often called “October’s Finest” and “Jojo” by her friends. While campaigning earlier this year, she used the motto “The lioness Roars” as she sought support from her colleagues, perhaps a reflection of her strong character and willingness to take on the toughest circumstances.
According to reports, she passed away at around 7 pm, last evening. Namatovu was pursuing a Bachelors degree in Tourism and Hotel Management. At the time she of her death, she was in the final year of her studies.
Many have eulogised the deceased as a jolly down to earth young smart lady. “Today we lost one of the most amazing humans to ever walk this earth…She was a vibrant leader, courageous, a friend of many and indeed family. We will miss you greatly Rest in Peace Fam May God keep us all strong, especially your family. #RIP Namatovu Josephine.” Nkumba University Law Society mourned.
