In a bid to address the challenges faced by agribusiness SMEs in Uganda, the European Union Delegation in Uganda, in partnership with the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), has launched the Support to Agricultural Revitalization and Transformation (START) Phase II.
This collaborative effort, with an investment of EUR 11.5 million, seeks to provide accessible financing solutions and promote sustainable practices within the agribusiness sector. START Phase II builds upon the success of its predecessor, Phase I, by expanding its reach and focusing on value addition and agro-processing.
Through tailored financial support and capacity-building initiatives, START II aims to empower agribusiness SMEs, particularly those led by women and vulnerable groups, to thrive in a competitive market while embracing sustainability principles.
European Union Ambassador to Uganda Jan Sadek affirms, “The launch of START Phase II underscores our commitment to fostering inclusive and green economic transformation in Uganda.”
This collaborative effort between the European Union and UNCDF signifies a crucial step towards unlocking the potential of agribusinesses in Uganda and driving sustainable development in the region.
