Eminem’s mom, Debbie Nelson, passed away last night in St. Joseph, Missouri, at the age of 69 after a battle with advanced lung cancer.
Her diagnosis, first revealed in September, indicated she didn’t have long to live.
The news has been confirmed by Eminem’s rep, Dennis Dennehy.
Their relationship was famously fraught, marked by public disputes and heartfelt reconciliations. Tracks like “Cleanin’ Out My Closet” captured their rocky past, while “Headlights” showed a softer, apologetic side.
In recent years, their bond had improved, and Debbie even congratulated Eminem on his Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2022.
RIP to Debbie Nelson, a figure who had her complexities yet remained a pivotal part of Eminem’s story.
