From September 10–13, 2025, Fort Portal will host the Ekyooto Ha Mpango Festival marking King Oyo’s 30th coronation anniversary.
King Oyo Rukidi IV became monarch at the age of just three years old, making history as one of the youngest reigning kings ever.
Since 1995, King Oyo has upheld culture, promoted education, improved healthcare, and enhanced tourism in the vibrant Tooro Kingdom.
This year’s four-day festival highlights Uganda’s diversity through engaging cultural activities, entertainment, and a powerful sense of community pride and identity.
Festival Highlights Include:
• A star-studded music festival celebrating both renowned performers and local Ugandan talent across genres and generations.
• A fashion gala exhibiting traditional and modern Ugandan designs, showcasing the flair and creativity of talented fashion designers.
• An art and heritage exhibition featuring crafts, photographs, and artifacts that tell the rich history of the Tooro Kingdom.
• Hands-on cultural activities such as traditional dances, drumming, and storytelling to immerse guests in authentic Tooro experiences.
• Guided tours exploring Fort Portal’s beauty: crater lakes, the Rwenzori Mountains, and nearby national parks rich in wildlife.
• Community sporting events aimed at encouraging healthy living and bringing people together in fun, competitive, and inclusive activities.
