The police in East Kyoga region and Soroti West Division are currently investigating the disappearance of 32-year-old Ahmed Zinhom Ibrahim Selim, an Egyptian national who has been dealing in kitchenware accessories.

He has been residing in Cell A, Camp swahili Ward in Soroti City East Division.

According to reports, Zinhom was last seen at his residence on Friday evening, February 23, 2024, in the company of two friends, one of whom is identified as Muhammad Nabil Ali, also an Egyptian, while the identity of the other friend remains unknown. Preliminary investigations suggest that on Saturday, February 24, 2024, Zinhom’s employee, Mark Kisolo, visited his residence but found the door padlocked with the key placed next to the window.

Upon entering, Kisolo discovered that no one was inside the house. He recovered Zinhom’s trousers, which he was reportedly wearing on the night of his disappearance. Oscar Gregg Ageca, the East Kyoga Regional Police Spokesman, has stated that a case of disappearance was officially registered on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at Soroti City East Division.

“We also suspect foul play based on the analysis of the victim’s house by a team of detectives and crime scene Officers, Ageca said in a statement. “The territorial police asks for information about Ahmed Zinhom Ibrahim Selim to be provided on toll-free numbers 112 or 999 or brought to East Kyoga regional headquarters or at Soroti West  Division Police Station,” reads the police statement.

Zinhom is known to be part of a group of Egyptian nationals who supply kitchenware accessories to various individuals, including civil servants, often extending credit to their customers. They are known to conduct business door-to-door, sometimes targeting customers in rural areas.
