Dr. Kizza Besigye’s People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) is facing serious financial challenges ahead of the 2026 elections.

The opposition movement has called on its candidates to personally finance their campaigns due to limited party resources.

According to party officials, the lack of sufficient funding has made it difficult to support candidates at constituency and local government levels. They explained that while the party remains committed to political change, its financial strain means individuals seeking elective office under the PFF banner must shoulder much of the campaign costs.

Dr. Besigye, a long-time opposition figure, acknowledged the difficulties but urged candidates not to be discouraged. He emphasized that sacrifice and resilience are key in Uganda’s struggle for democracy and governance reforms.

The PFF leadership also appealed to supporters and well-wishers to contribute towards campaign activities, noting that the movement survives largely on donations and voluntary contributions. The situation underscores the financial pressures faced by smaller political parties in Uganda as they attempt to challenge entrenched ruling structures.
