    Police in Nsangi are investigating a shooting that happened Sunday night which led to the death of a one Kalumba John aka Kenzo, a brick layer in the area.

    According to KMP Deputy Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, the District Police Commander (DPC) Merdard Asiimwe discharged the bullet which killed Kalumba.

    The victim succumbed to the injuries while he was being ferried to the hospital.

    “Asiimwe has since been arrested and detained at Nsangi police station. He alleges that before discharging the bullet, there was a scandal and a stray bullet injured Kalumba,” said Owoyesigire.

    Adding: “The DPC is in our custody as we ascertain what happened before and after the shooting.”

    He called upon residents to remain calm as police further investigates the matter.

    “We have gotten to know that there is a Rasta community that was in the bar drinking and early in the morning many had organized a protest against the shooting,” Owoyesigyire said.
