A gentleman, one Dan Kiberu was reported missing by the family members for fear of being abducted because of his close alligance, relationship and association with Uganda’s main opposition group, the National Unity Platform (NUP) under the code name “People Power”.
Kiberu, a renowned youth mobilizer in Kiwatule, a suburb of Uganda’s capital city Kampala was allegedly whisked off to an unknown place believed to be a “safe house”, confines for torturing opposition political activists.

A family member who spoke to this publication on condition of anonymity for fear of her life as well confessed that Kiberu once traveled to Turkey in 2021 before return in June 2022.
“We live in fear as well. We have not heard from our brother as his whereabouts remain undisclosed. We do not know where he is, what he is eating and how his life is faring in general” a family member revealed.
For a long time, many opposition political activists have reported being tracked, arrested and mistreated by unknown Government spies in specialized torture detaches.

Some victims have later resurfaced with deep cuts of torture, wounds as they narrate nasty scenes in the reported “safe houses”.
The tense, worrying and tempting political situation has led to escape of many opposition activists to diaspora countries where they have sought asylum.
