Ivan Kamuntu Ssemakula Majambere, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Rukiga District, was arrested on Wednesday by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit on charges of theft and land grabbing.

This arrest marks another chapter in his controversial career.

Ssemakula is accused of being involved in a land-grabbing scheme in 2020, where he allegedly collaborated with others to seize land and livestock from residents in Gomba District.

The accused reportedly used forged letters from State House to carry out the illegal land acquisitions, deceiving the public and authorities in the process.

Mariam Natasha, the communication manager at the Unit, confirmed the arrest and said that Ssemakula had been transported to Gomba District, where the alleged crimes took place.

He is set to appear in magistrate’s court on Thursday.

Natasha, however, declined to provide additional details, warning that doing so might jeopardize ongoing investigations.

Majjambere was in 2022 assaulted by mourners at the burial ceremony of Suleiman Jakana Nadduli in Nakaseke district.
