The newly appointed King of Tooro, Prince Edward Rukidi Kijanangoma, has faced significant resistance from the Kingdom officials, including Princess Ruth Komuntale, Queen Mother Best Kemigisha, among others.
Following King Oyo’s passing a few weeks back, the Tooro Kingdom has experienced both internal and external challenges.
Among these is appointing the next King, with several officials suggesting that King Oyo’s son had the right to take over the throne.
Others, however, oppose the decision, claiming the Kingdom needs an adult ruler who will make decisions that will drive it forward.

Amid the challenges, yesterday Prince Edward Rukidi Kijanangoma was declared the next king, sparking chaos at the palace compelling the army to allegedly hold several officials under house arrest, including Queen Mother Best Kemigisha.

Critics claimed that, before his passing, the late King Oyo left a will, naming his son as the first heir and successor, and that if his son was unable to assume the throne, the will provided succession to Prince Komwiswa Yoweri, followed by Prince Nyaika Solomon and then Musuga Charles Kamurasi.
