Socialite Bryan White, real name Kirumira Brian, has finally been granted mandatory bail after 293 days behind bars.
Bryan White was arrested in November last year and detained at Luzira Upper Prison on charges of alleged human sacrifice and manslaughter. Bryan White appeared before Justice Paul Wolimbwa, who granted him a cash bail of 10 million.
He ordered his release, ruling that he had so far spent more than the constitutionally required 180 days on remand before his case would be presented to the High Court.
Bryan was jailed after the unfortunate passing of 25-year-old Nalubwama Carol, who succumbed to burn injuries she sustained at his residence in Makindye.

He told detectives that the severe injuries were the result of an explosion of a gas cylinder while she was cooking. She was later transferred to Kiruddu Hospital, where she passed away.

Among the conditions set for his bail were a deposit of 10 million plus a non-cash bond of 50 million for two sureties each. He was also ordered to surrender his passport and stay away from his home, which is still a crime scene.
He was also barred from contacting the witnesses in the case, including the deceased’s family.
