Things seem not to be on the side of Brig.Gen. Moses Shaban Lukyamuzi after his body guards under his commandership allegedly beat up City Lawyer Francis Xavier Ogwado leaving him with severe injuries.
It’s alleged that counsel Francis Ogwado who was in company of a surveyor had gone to inspect the land for his client Pascal Bugonzi in Nkumba zone, Katabi Town Council, Wakiso district.
Sources at the scene told us that as counsel Ogwado was giving instructions to the surveyor to demarcate his client’s land on Block 446, plot 435 in Nkumba, an army pick- up with armed soldiers five in uniform and three none uniformed ones rounded up him and the surveyor.
However, in the process of explaining to the no-no sense soldiers what had taken him to his client’s Land, they started beating him up telling him that their commander Brig. Gen. Lukyamuzi had told them that the Land belongs to Dr. Herbert Sekandi, a lecturer at Nkumba University.
The merciless soldiers, who were led by Hamdan Lutamaguzi hit counsel Ogwado with a gun, slapped him and kicked him as if they were beating a chicken thief and left him with severe injuries on all body parts including the head. The soldiers also loaded all the building materials that his client Bugonzi had put at the disputed land.
Later counsel Ogwado was rushed to 6K Doctor’s clinic for medication before filing an assault matter against Brig, Lukyamuzi and his body guards at Entebbe police station vide SDREF: 83/22/06/2022.
A source at Entebbe police intimated us that the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Directorate(CIID) has already issued criminal summons to Brig. Lukyamuzi plus his body guards to appear at Entebbe police to answer charges of assault and theft of building materials belonging to Pascal Bugonzi and that failure to comply police will be forced to arrest them.
When contacted Brig. Lukyamuzi on phone on the issue of assaulting City Lawyer Ogwado, he said the Lawyer is representing Pascal Bugonzi whom his office does not recognize to be the true owner of the disputed land and that his office recognizes Dr. Herbert Sekandi as the owner of the disputed Land.
Brig. Lukyamuzi added;
The issues are in our office and they are also in the courts of law but it seems Bugozi wants to make the matters personal. I’ve no problem with him. Bugozi doesn’t respect the law, he wants to do things the way he likes because he thinks he is above the law which cannot be tolerated.
When Dr. Herbert Ssekandi petitioned our office accusing Bugozi of taking over his piece of land, we had to come to his rescue so that Bugozi respects the law. He went and destroyed Dr. Herbert Ssekandi’s crops that he had planted just because he processed a land title for the land in January 2022 and yet Dr. Ssekandi has been on the land for more than 20 years. Bugozi destroyed crops without even giving any compensation which cannot be tolerated.
