After the recent standoff with police in Iganga, National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) resumed his political mobilization campaign with a massive rally in Namayingo District on Friday.
Thousands of supporters gathered to welcome the opposition leader, who reiterated his call for unity, freedom, and leadership change in Uganda. Bobi Wine thanked residents for their resilience and urged them not to be intimidated by security disruptions or political pressure.
Speaking at the rally, Kyagulanyi said the NUP movement was committed to peaceful mobilization aimed at awakening citizens to demand better governance and equal opportunity. “We shall continue to speak for the voiceless and stand for justice across Uganda,” he said.
The Namayingo rally followed tensions in Iganga, where police earlier accused the NUP leader of defying an agreed procession route. Despite the earlier confrontation, Friday’s event proceeded peacefully under tight security.
Bobi Wine’s tour of Busoga sub-region is part of his wider nationwide mobilization drive ahead of the 2026 general elections, which aims to strengthen NUP’s grassroots structures and energize supporters.
