Veteran singer Betty Mpologoma has opened up about the witchcraft in the music industry, looking back at her experience years ago.
Mpologoma, during one of her YouTube interviews, revealed that the incident in question happened during her time in Diamonds Productions, led by the late Kato Lubwama, midway through a concert.
She stressed that on that fateful day, she had left home speaking perfectly well and getting ready for her performance. As other groups finalized their performances, Mpologoma revealed that she prepared to take on the stage, but unfortunately, something happened.
The singer revealed that as the deejay played the intro to their song, she attempted to sing, but all efforts proved futile, as she had lost her voice and couldn’t utter a single word, sparking a frenzy among the crowd demanding her presence on stage.
Having seen the chaos, she got the microphone and stepped on stage, but still failed to sing. She credits fellow singer media personality Rebecca Jjingo and other backup singers for saving the day as they performed on her behalf.

“People were eagerly waiting, but I couldn’t utter a word. It was Rebecca Jjingo who got the microphone and started singing in the background, but I only showed up lip-syncing because I wanted people to see me,” Betty Mpologoma said.

Kato Lubwama strongly believed that it was witchcraft because she didn’t have the flu nor cough before the show. Her vocals were previously working well, but surprisingly stopped when she had to be on stage. One of her colleagues gave her aspirin to swallow, but the vocals refused to come out.
“I was just making signs with my hands. It is not that I had been shouting previously for my voice to disappear. Mr. Kazibwe suggested we pray. The entire place was in chaos, and Uncle Kato thought someone had started bewitching us. They all knew there was a problem because I was very okay before,” Betty Mpologoma said
After the show was done, the team put Mpologoma in the car back home, and to their surprise, she immediately began talking again at her doorstep.
