Barbie Itungo Kyagulanyi, wife to National Unity Platform (NUP) President and Presidential Candidate 2021 Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu has donated sewing machines to teenage girls in an effort to combat teenage pregnancies during this covid 19 pandemic time.

Through her Charity Organisation Caring Hearts Uganda, she partnered with community leaders from Kamwokya to make a difference in the lives of a number of pregnant school going teenagers living here

We acknowledge that Covid19 which is the reason schools are still closed to-date is the current contributor to the escalating number of teenage pregnancies in our country.

It should be known that during the Covid19 lockdown, many teenage girls became prey for sadistic individuals who lured them into sexual activities hence leading to a drastic rise in the number of teenage pregnancies.
They started teaching the girls how to sew and with consistent training, they are now excellent tailors.

Barbie and Reverend Esther presided over the handover of sewing machines and other things used during child birth to those who successfully completed the training.
Their hope is that those who can not go back to school after giving birth, will start up tailoring businesses in places which we have secured for them within the community.

They also have faith that the small tailoring businesses will enable them to look after themselves and their babies.
I really appreciate my personal friends who contributed towards this cause.
Thank you very much.
The little we can do, we must do.
