Singer Ava Peace, real name Namugonza Maureen Peace, has spoken out about the Ministry of Ethics’ decision to reprimand artists over indecent dressing.
The Ethics body came out to address the issue of indecency after several private videos leaked on social media. They described it as a despicable act that was degrading the value of women in the country, as well as the young children looking up to these people.
The Ethics body decided that they would get a code of conduct to govern the artists and everyone in the entertainment industry.
This would be implemented with the help of UMA, the Cultural Forum, and the UNMF, involving the police and imposing penalties or reprimands for indecency.

Responding to the decision, Ava Peace, during her interview with Sanyuka TV, did not agree with the ruling, arguing that they had to be excused while on stage.

“It depends on where you are. Truthfully, you cannot go to the stage dressed in a gomesi. I will not perform my nice songs while dressed in long things. On stage, we should take it that it is work and we dress up accordingly. Maybe after you leave the stage. Personally, you can’t find me indecent off the stage. You will not find me moving anywhere dressed skimpily. But I will dress in skimpy outfits on stage because that is what my job entails. I will dress according to what I’m doing,” she said.
@sanyukatvug There are false claims linking me to a controversial video. That is not me, and it’s not funny. It seems someone is trying to damage my brand despite my hard work.- Ava Peace #SanyukaUnCut #SanyukaUpdates #FfeBannoDdala
