An investigation by a local TV station in Kenya revealing how lax policies have allowed food with high levels of a toxin called aflatoxin to be sold has sparked uproar over safety standards in the country. The investigation by the privately owned NTV station tested 12 brands of wheat and maize flour. Three were found to have aflatoxin contamination a few points above the recommended standard of 10 parts per billion, while seven samples still had detectable levels of aflatoxin. Uganda Airlines will Monday launch its direct flight to Kenya’s port city of Mombasa in a move government believes will boost tourism and trade. The inaugural flight to the second destination the airline is making in Kenya (after Nairobi) will depart 11:30am Monday. Rwanda Defence Forces (RDF) shot and killed two Ugandan Nationals on allegations that they have been smuggling prohibited items into Rwanda. Based on Police stories from Kigezi, the incident occurred at 8:00pm at Tabagwe village in Nyagatare district in Rwanda. Police recognized the deceased as Ayub Byarushaga, 37, a resident of Nyakabungo cell, Kashekye Parish Kamwezi Sub County in Rukiga District and John Bosco Tuhirwe aged 30. Court has sentenced Godfrey Wamala alias Troy to 13 years in jail in over the death of singer Moses Sekibogo (Mowzey Radio). Troy was arrested shortly after Radio’s death last year and accused of killing the Goodlyfe crooner after the 2 engaged in a struggle. He was charged with manslaughter. Mowzey Radio died in February 2018 after succumbing to injuries at Case Hospital in Kampala. Last week, Justice Jane Abodo of Entebbe High Court convicted Troy of manslaughter.
